I was born in Scotland, and at the age of 6 weeks, my Mum and I flew back to Qatar, to be with the rest of my family.
My Dad is from Qatar, and Mum is from England, and I have two older wacky sisters. I'm the baby of the family by 9 years.
Scottish Champion and Recorder Holder - At the age of 17, I competed in Glasgow, in the Scottish Schools Championships over the 400 meters, smashing the indoor 400m record by 1.1 seconds, to become Scottish Champion and Record Holder.
From there, there was no stopping me, I ran several times for Scotland across the country, and clocked up many wins at regional and national level.
At the age of 13, my Mum pushed me into sports. I'm glad she did, as at the time, I was getting up to no good in school, and was a frequent visitor to the Head Master office.
I was always a fast runner, which I inherited from my Mum, and had good strength and endurance, which I got from my Dad. I remember when growing up, he could lift anything!
Getting into Athetics, I soon started to win races, and it wasn't long before I was competing at a top level.
Weekends were always taken up with travelling over Scotland, competing for Aberdeen A.A.C as one of their best sprinters. During the weeks, it was, go to school, do homework if I had any, and then off to training.

I went to the Doha English Speaking School (D.E.S.S), and had many friends from different backgrounds.
I loved swimming, and going fishing with my Dad. I enjoyed snorkling and sailing, basically anything to do with the sea, and the fine weather.
At the age of 9, I moved back to the U.K with Mum and my two sisters, where we settled in a small Scottish villiage called Kemnay, outside of Aberdeen.
That was a testing experience, being the only dark skinned person in the School. A bit of a culture shock from the diversity of the D.E.S.S.
I had difficulty to be accepted as one of the class, but those were experiences that have helped me through my life, especially when moving to Sweden at the age of 28.
It wasn't until the next day, when driving my family in the car, that I suddenly felt I couldn't keep the car on the road, I wasn't in control of my body. I got out of the car and felt like I was a drunk puppet, with an incredibly sore head.
I checked myself into hospital, where suddenly I seemed to be top priority over the others in the waiting room.
To be honest, after several days in hospital, I hadn't a clue what was wrong with me, until the doctor came in with the results of a CT scan.
I couldn't believe it, I had a STROKE!
At the age of 37, on a fishing boat with some good friends off the coast of a Norwegian island called Røst, I had a weird experience where I could not form sentences in my head.
This sensation happened for several days, and I remember on the way back to the ferry saying, "I don't know what's happend this week, but it feels like I can't find my words"
I was very luckly to have my Mum, who put her life on pause, and come over to Sweden to help with my 3 young sons.
I didn't even have the energy to walk 400m without having to sit on a bench and rest for 10 minutes. A long way from my athletic days.
The word of this year was FRUSTRATION! Having gone from being able, successful in my work, having high capacity and lots of energy, to this person who was drained, not able to play with my boys, and do my duties as a father and husband.
It took me one year to get back to work full time, and in the process I learned a lot in doing so. I gained so much appreciation for people on sick leave, and learned a great deal about myself and what having the right mindset, could help in recovering.
